"FINANCIAL BASICS FOR CREATIVE ENTREPRENEURS"

Through lectures, class projects and homework assignments, this class will address the issues of being an artist/entrepreneur or running an art-related business. You will learn to manage a budget, cope with the volatility of unpredictable revenues, understand the basics of the investment marketplace and balance the competing demands on your time and money.

 

The class will also address taxation and strategies, structuring business ownership, and planning for retirement. Particular emphasis is placed on approaching finances with the creative side of the brain and on developing each student's financial well-being. Guest lecturers will discuss recordkeeping and tax-filing for art-related business owners, art insurance and business planning for creative entrepreneurs.

ARTroads "LEARNING TO DRAW and BASIC WATERCOLOR- Traditional Techniques"

Two Saturdays: July 21st and 28th, 2007
9:15 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.


These two Saturday sessions will provide the beginning artist with the basics; a solid foundation of drawing skills and the basics of watercolor painting. Learning to see and then easily transposing the three-dimensional scene onto two-dimensional paper and canvas is our goal. A foundation of watercolor basics will be provided along with class exercises emphasizing technique. Lecture, demonstration, practice exercises, personal attention and handouts are included. Students will be expected to complete simple assignments during the week between the sessions. Most materials will be provided or available for a reasonable fee at the class. Students may prefer their own equipment and supplies. The material list will be provided with your confirmation notice. At "Seven Tepees" - 3177 17th Street, San Francisco (between South Van Ness Ave. and Folsom Streets; Bart, Muni and parking are nearby)

November 10th and 17th, 2007
9:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.

Outdoor sessions, beginners welcome! Location will vary depending on weather and will include one bay or ocean view and one "urban" setting. You will complete these classes with at least two drawings and two watercolor paintings!
