Artroads
About Artroads

April 5th to the 12th, 2008 - You're invited to the turqouise-blue Caribbean and the green, Yucatan Peninsula. Enter the multi-million acre bio-reserve of S'aan K'aan and stay at the fabulous Cuzan Guest Houses right on the Caribbean Sea. Join our professional artist and instructor, Pamela Rhodes, director of ARTroads, and our Mayan chefs for seven days and nights in the remote and tranquil Mayan fishing village of Punta Allen. You'll stay just 150 miles south of Cancun (and far from the crowds), in natural beach cabanas - "palapas", built on the sand right on the beautiful azul bay. Learn the fundamentals of drawing and composition and then the basic techniques of watercolor and watercolor pencil. Pamela is a patient, professional and experienced instructor comfortable with all student skill levels. She has just returned from a month in Italy and is doubly inspired to share techniques and insight. Classes are filled with lectures on technique, demonstrations, exercizes and offer lots of personal attention.

Enjoy a leisurely pace of morning classes and afternoon studio time complemented with local cuisine prepared and served by the Mayan and Mexican staff. Relax in the hammock, walk on the beach, swim, snorkel or arrange for salt-water fly fishing - the specialty of the Cuzan resort. Draw, paint, cook, swim and drink in the views!

ADVISORY NOTE ~ While our location is safe, friendly and experienced in handling group guests, please note that this location is both remote and rustic.  We depart the tourist-filled Cancun airport and arrive at a very small beach-front village with no shops, nightclubs, hotels.  There is solar power, indoor plumbing and a restaurant and bar.

There is very limited internet service, refrigeration at the restaurant and limited phone service in the small town at your own expense.  Travel to and from Tulum or Cancun, outside of our scheduled van service, requires reservations and a separate fee.  The charm is being away from the crowds in a simpler setting.

    WHAT'S NOT INCLUDED:

  • Transportation to and from your hometown to our workshop location in Punta Allen, Mexico. Detailed transportation information, maps and resources will be included in your workbook. Local transportation for any off-site art classes will be provided.
