Art Class I, II and III; "Learning to Draw so You Can Paint"

Sunday, Monday and Tuesday, 8:30 to 11:30 a.m., open studio 2 to 5 p.m.

Pamela Rhodes, our drawing instructor, is the founder and director of ARTroads. She believes that everyone is capable of seeing the world that surrounds us and also transposing that vision to paper and canvas. She has worked as a technical illustrator and directed a corporate audio visual department. She currently accepts commissions for cust home and business watercolor "portraiture".

She graduated from City University of New York, Baruch College, with a business degree and a major in advertising. She has pursued her own art education through numerous classes at San Francisco State, The Academy of Sciences, and under the tutelage of professional artists. She is a skilled portrait and landscape artist, and her graphite, colored pencil and watercolor work is owned by clients throughout the US, Mexico and England. She has taught portrait drawing for the YWCA and offered her signature class, "Learning to Draw so You can Paint", in San Francisco, the Yucatan and as an essential part of the Tuscany Trip - A Renaissance Retreat, for the past six years. Pamela is a patient and prepared instructor. She provided the tools and techniques that allow each student to develop their drawing skills. She is committed to the goal of having each of us really see all that surrounds us and drawing and painting those treasures that we see. She believes that the skill of seeing, combined with the practice of drawing, results in the excitement of expression.

Wine and Virgin Olive Oil Tasting followed by an al fresco lunch at the Vineyard

Following our plein aire painting session, our talented guide and gastronomic consultant, Signor Giancarlo Russo, will present a selection of Tuscan food and wine.

Signor Russo left corporate management and Milan to live in Tuscany and pursue his love of Tuscan tastes. He founded and directs "Stagionatori d'Arno", a company which ages, refines and distributes a high quality line of artisinal cheese and salumi products worldwide. He is a sought-after speaker and lectures at the Lorenzo de' Medici Scool in Firenze, the University of Gastronomic Science in Pollenzo and teaches the "Master Cheese" and "Salumi" courses for the Slow Food Organization. As a Master Cheese Taster for "ONAF" (the National Organization of Cheese Tasters), he is a frequent presenter to trade and consumer groups. Signor Russo brings the same passion and determination to find the most representational products of Tuscany to his wine lectures and tastings.

He will guide us to a farm and vineyard, nine centuries old, owned by a noble Tuscan familia. He will proudly present local wines while we enjoy the real workings of the farm and vineyards, fortunate to arrive in the middle of "Vendemmia" (the grape harvesting). Tastings are followed by lunch prepared by the owners; a typical Tuscan meal, due piatti, assortiti di fromaggio, salumi, dolce et vin santo!

Chef and owner of a popular seafood ristorante, Franco and his partner and wife Romana will show us some secrets to easy and delicious Tuscan fare. We'll enjoy a private, in-kitchen demonstration and then feast on the final products complete with their vino da' casa..
